Time Log
Projects and Activities
It is possible to record time for each day. The Time Log Manager lets you define 'Projects' and 'Activities'. An activity can be associated with any project.
Once you have projects and activities, you can record time against them. Typing in an activity will auto-complete from the known list. You can rename activities and projects.
Editing time entries
You can click on a cell in the time table to modify its value as well. If you modify the name of the project or activity to something that didn't previously exist, that will implicitly add that as a new project or activity.
Use decimals for time entries, where '1' represents one hour. E.G, 0.25 is 15 minutes, 0.33 is 20, 0.42 is 25, 0.58 is 35, 0.83 is 50, and so on.
Once you close the time dialog, the summary of the time spent will update automatically in the sidebar's Time widget with a breakdown of time per project, and a total.
Using the Pomodoro Timer
Click on the hourglass symbol from the toolbar. This will open a pomodoro-style timer in the Time Log widget in the left sidebar. If your cursor was positioned on a line of text in your page, the text will be pre-filled as the potential 'time log' entry (otherwise it will default to 'Focus session'). You can change the text to log once you stop the timer.
Clicking Start on the Pomodoro timer will start the timer. You can pause or stop the timer as you need. When you choose 'Stop and log', the Time Log dialog will pop up to let you log the elapsed time. It rounds 'up' by 0.25 intervals, e.g if you did 40 minutes of work, it will round up to 0.75 (45 minutes, where 1.00 = 1 hour or 60 minutes).
Time Reports
Click on the graph button in the left sidebar or otherwise 'Reporting' from the Time Log dialog. This will let you run a report for time logged over a specific period.
You can select a specific project, or 'All projects', to run your report.
It is possible to set a date range of 'Today', 'This week', 'Last week', 'This month', 'This year', or a 'Custom' date range.
You can also 'group' your time log entries by Day, Week, or Month. When you do this. individual log entries will be collapsed into the 'activity' that they belong to, and the individual messages for those time logs won't be shown. You can choose 'Don't group', in which case you will see every single time log entry (and its text log entry).
Once you have run a report, you can export it to CSV or PDF.
Invoices
Note: if you have the Invoices feature enabled, you can also generate an invoice once you have run a report. See the 'Invoicing' section of the documentation for more details.
